Location
A group of five points on the upper abdomen around CV12: one on the anterior midline at the midpoint of the line from the lower border of the sternum to the umbilicus (CV12), two 0.5 thumb widths lateral to the midline 3.5 thumb widths below the lower border of the sternum, and two 0.5 thumb widths lateral to the midline 3.5 thumb widths above the umbilicus.
Cautions
Needle shallowly – deep needling risks entering the peritoneal cavity over the stomach. Avoid needling over the gravid uterus after the first trimester; where used in pregnancy, needle shallowly and only on a clear obstetric indication.
